Wanderlust Wednesday: Mexico
Our wedding photographer/ friend came over last night with our wedding photos and extras that he shot from the trip. I love seeing Playa del Carmen through someone else's lens, and I love his photos for catching the intimate details of the place. I am definitely yearning for Mexico.

Last Day in Playa
After the wedding festivities were over, we easily settled into a routine of doing absolutely nothing. We walked around, found the best places to eat, laid in the sand, swam, and played countless rounds of pickle ball (which I learned that I am terrible at!). Here are some of the last remaining photos from our time in Playa del Carmen...

Mexico Day 3
One of the hardest things for me is to return to a destination that I used to love, and find that it is entirely changed. I've traveled to Playa del Carmen five or six times, and each time I go back, the town is a different creature. This last time we decided to head out to a "local" cenote. I went to this cenote around the first time I was in Playa, and it was a dirt path through the jungle that opened up to a cave filled with water. Well, this last time we went, this same local cenote is now a "natural park" and they force you to wear life jackets throughout the park! You can tell that we are not terribly thrilled about this news...
Besides the terribly disappointing cenote adventure, the natural park did have a few extremely steep and scary slides for us to test out.

Mexico Day 1
The Flight: Seattle to Dallas (3 hours) + 2 hour layover
Dallas to Cancun (2.5 hours)
The Drive: Cancun to Playa del Carmen (1 hour)
We've arrived!

Hour 1 in Mexico: Straight to the bar (swinging while drinking a margarita = BLISS)

Post bar beach inspection:

My "office" for the next 7 days

Our 2nd porch: the first room, decorated to the max with balloons and "just married posters," was also the room of choice for a huge bat. So, after being swooped by that bat (at 2 am) that hung a foot away from the bed, we were promptly moved to a bungalow right on the beach. We owe the bat one!

The lobby...I could live in there

My vehicle of choice for the week:

Off to day 2...
