long beach, washington round 2

Saturday, we strapped some surf boards on our cars and headed to the beach! Thank god for wetsuits, because otherwise we would have definitely froze! Our attempt at surfing was hilarious and so much fun!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend! I've got a few more rounds of photos to share so check back in tomorrow!

weekend recap: long beach washington

I  spent one night in Seattle before picking up friends and heading to Long Beach to try out surfing on the Washington Coast! We all had an amazing time and braved the chilly ocean water together! It was a hilarious attempt at surfing, but that isn't stopping us from feeling like badass surfer chicks right about now!

Also, the Washington Coast is amazing! I haven't been to Long Beach before, and it was beautiful! White sand beaches were flanked by grassy sand dunes and white trimmed/ grey shingled houses.

I need to stop dressing like the guys!

My parter in crime, Erin! Her boyfriend is on the same boat as my husband...it has been so helpful to have someone that can commiserate with me!

A photo I was sent from Alaska...Brian is obviously in his element!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend as well!

Surfing + Traveling

We've been searching out a lot of surf videos lately for our new endeavor and we came accross this old film by Taylor Steele, "Castles in the Sky." We've never been so jealous, this guy is living our dreams while beautifully filming his travel's/surfing along the way!

Also, did you know that Nike is now sponsoring surfing? They have a killer girls team, and a new video coming out called, "Leave a Message."

Ulu Watu

So on our last day in Bali we went to Ulu Watu. Ulu is a famous surf spot on the Southwestern tip of Bali and it is beautiful! This is by far one of the best places we visited in Bali. This is a must see especially if you are a surfer!

We did it!

We finally did it!  We buckled and payed up for a surfing lesson and who would have thought, it actually worked! Our instructor was this great little Balinese guy who was shocked when we both got up first try and then started catching waves and surfing like it was no big deal. Well, actually we both took quite a few spills in the middle of all that surfing, but we are stoked to have finally got the hang of it! Anyways, we are off to check out the real surfers at Ulu Watu today, and then tomorrow we might give surfing another go, as long as our bodies have recuperated from the soreness! (One downside- the beach from Kuta to Seminyak is highly polluted from river run-off, so every few seconds we had plastic of some sort sticking to us or the board while we were in the water! Not the best place if you are coming for a pretty beach vacation, that doesn't exist anywhere in Bali and you are better off sticking to Mexico!).

A + B in Amed for a special dinner of suckling pig (not my favorite!), but they made awesome hats for us and we dined like kings because we were the only ones in the restaurant!
