Neah Bay is located on the Makah Indian reservation and has a population of a little under 800 people. It looks straight across at Canada, and the whole time we were there our phones kept beeping, "Welcome to Canada, you are on Canadian Cellular blah, blah." The drive out to Neah Bay is one of the prettiest I have ever been on. First, you jump on the Edmonds ferry to Kingston or the Seattle ferry to Bainbridge. Then you wiggle your way up to Port Angeles, and from there it is Highway 101 the rest of the journey (about an hour or so). Highway 101 curves in and out, with the ocean peaking into view every few minutes. It is incredible, but if your one for getting car sick, definitely bring some dramamine.
While we were there, we cruised on over to Hobuck Bay Beach Resort. It's not quite the "resort" you would commonly associate with that word, but it does the job. The management is super relaxed and told us to park where ever and charged us only $25 for ten people and three motor homes. The best part was we parked literally ten feed away from the beach. If you are not totally into camping, there are great cabins you can rent right behind the campground.
If you head to Neah Bay, be prepared to bring EVERYTHING! There isn't really a town and it is a dry reservation, so pack in enough
One of the reasons most people head to the coast is the hiking, and the Cape Flattery trail is an awesome hike to start with. It is super short, maybe three miles total, but you hike on a suspended wood trail and end at breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean.
I even saw a humongous seal floating around!
