Sorry we've been so lackadaisical about posting- we were on a vacation within our vacation while my mom was visiting, but now she's off to the U.S. and we are back to work- aka travel- and are currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As for now we will catch you up from where we left off- Railey Beach
After Railey we took a long tail to the ferry and then a ferry to the island of Koh Phi Phi (pronounced pee pee). It only took about an hour and a half to get to Koh Phi Phi and the ride was well worth it! The scenery here is unbelievable- limestone cliffs are scattered throughout the pristine blue water, it's beautiful. As for Koh Phi Phi, it was a lot better than we were expecting- and what we were expecting was a completely over developed tourist hole- and don't get me wrong, there are parts of the island that attract a certain crowd that loves blaring techno music while sipping out of buckets of alcohol, but the rest of the island is quiet and pristine. We stayed at the Viking Natures Resort (and yes the "nature" is really spelled with an "s"), in a beautiful tree house type bungalow. The only downside of our bungalow was the detached bathroom which we would have to walk outside to get to- not super fun when you are paranoid that a snake/ tarantula will be hiding in the toilet!

Anyways, while on Koh Phi Phi we rented a long-tail for half the day and went snorkeling around Bamboo and Mosquito islands. Brian brought his go-pro so stay tuned for an underwater edit.

Our second day on Koh Phi Phi we rented a long tail again and headed up around Maya Bay, where they filmed The Beach! It was only after I got visions of Leonardo Dicaprio out of my head that I was able to start snorkeling. The longtail guide did this really nifty (i'm being sarcastic here) trick of throwing bread in the water while you are swimming, so that you are literally entombed by fish- not my favorite thing! Koh Phi Phi has the clearest water we have seen yet, along with some beautiful white sand beaches to match- there is also a trail that takes you from The Viking to town, which was a lot bigger than we expected and we were thrilled to see some civilization and grab curry at a local whole in the wall.
By the way, Southern Thailand has some amazing curries and I'm pretty sure we have sampled them all, although Massaman curry, a coconut milk based red curry, is one of my favorites.

Well we will leave you with Koh Phi Phi- tomorrow we will give you some info on Phuket and our photo pick of the week!
This looks beutiful...the water is so clear! Wish we were there. Love MOM
