La-Gon (Ciao) Bangkok!

We decided to spend our last day in Bangkok as jam-packed as possible- we had too many things to see before our flight out at three am. So we got an early start, well after we grabbed some pastries, of course. We then made our way to the river ferry and caught the boat half way into the city, then took a tuk-tuk to Jim Thompson's house.
Jim Thompson, a U.S. citizen,  moved to Thailand after serving in the office of strategic services (precursor to the C.I.A) throughout WWII.  As a sleeper agent, he spent a lot of time in Thailand and fell in love with all the people and culture. In Baan Kru, a Muslim district of Bangkok, he discovered the cottage industry of hand-woven silk. In attempts to revitalize this dying industry, he founded the  Thai Silk Company.  His house in Bangkok, right across the canal from Ban Krua stands as a monument to a Jim Thompson, specifically his beautiful collection of antiques and lovingly restored traditional Thai homes. Besides all this, Jim Thompson's House actually draws a lot of tourists because of the conspiracy theories that surround his death. He mysteriously disappeared while on vacation in Malaysia- could it have been a tiger? Politically motivated kidnapping? We will never know....

After the tour of the house we made our way to Siam Square, which is one of the biggest malls we have ever been to, although I think this is what Tokyo might be like.
I (Brian) bought an SD card for my new GoPro camera (you will see an edit soon).
Then, after some time wandering, we found Little India and had a delicious lunch/ punjab sweets (I don't know what we ate, but it was good!).

Then it was off to China Town, although February 3rd is was the start of Chinese New Year, and that place was too much of a zoo to see anything, so instead we grabbed beer/cocktails before hopping on the ferry back to our hotel. We all cleaned up and headed out for our final dinner in Bangkok.  Lisa treated herself to a foot, back, and shoulder massage, while Ashley and I treated ourselves to mango and sticky rice while shopping for t-shirts.
Next stop, Koh Phangan!
