Long Layovers= Awesome Daytrips

Hola,
Hope that you didn't think we forgot about our blog now that we are back to "reality" but don't worry we are going to keep up with the blog and post more pictures and more stories from our travels in Southeast Asia and around the world.

As for the journey back to Seattle, well we will fill you in on our adventure.  We left Bangkok, kicking and screaming, around 11:00pm and took a five hour flight over to Korea for a thirteen hour layover. On the ride to the airport while in Bangkok we met a fellow North American who had a whole itinerary planed for the long layover. She let us tag along, so after a sleepless night we rolled into Soeul around 6:00am and the three of us ventured out of the airport for a day in Seoul. We had no preconceptions about Korea and knew nothing about Seoul, literally not a thing, and I think it was for the best. Seoul literally was amazing, and not comparing it to a guidebook definition was freeing. We spent the morning seeing an old royal compound and then the rest of the day we lazily wandered around Seoul's shopping streets, while tasting kim-chee dumplings, to bim bim bap (a rice porridge served in a earthenware pot). We also landed in Seoul on the celebration of Buddha's birthday and were able to join a huge street fair where we got our faces painted and learned about Buddhism. It was then back on the plane for another nine hours into Seattle...but more on re-entry later! Here are some of Brian's photo's from our 13 hours in Seoul. Enjoy!
