wanderlust wednesday: afghanistan

(source unknown :()

Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated, almost to the point of obsession, with other cultures. I have this insatiable desire to travel and see the world. I wanted to be a foreign correspondent or a photo journalist, and document all the people and places I visited. I am now content to just travel and observe cultures and countries for my own enjoyment. But, each place I've visited ends up not just being an enjoyable trip, each country changes me a little and leaves me with something intangible.  Be it a lesson, or a different way of thinking, or just the sense of how big and varied the world really is.

When it comes to countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran, that I know are impossible to visit, I still hold out hope that I will get the opportunity someday. I think visiting those countries would grab hold of you and never let you go. That is why I wanted to feature Afghanistan, outside the context of wars and politics, I wanted to show some of the stunning images I have come across, of the people and their country.

  2. I, too, am fascinated by other cultures. I think that's why I seek out and enjoy so many books and stories featuring places from all around the world.
It's lovely to see Afghanistan sans war - I hope we see more of that in the future.

    1. Aren't her eyes so striking! I had to stop myself from putting only pictures of afghanistan children up because they were all so beautiful!
