usa road trip

Sorry posting has been a little sparse lately, but it will probably continue to be off and on as we prepare to set off on October 1st!

Anyways, I wanted to give you guys a little bit of info about our upcoming USA road trip! We are going to hit as many states as possible, but probably fall short of hitting all of the lower 48.

We are starting at home in Seattle, heading over to Coeur d'Alene to visit family and then we will head into Montana and visit Yellowstone! From there, we will travel across Wyoming (where we will most certainly be the slowest vehicle on the road). From Wyoming we will hit Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands in South Dakota, and the continue on to the East Coast. Our goal is to get to Maine as quickly as possible and follow the leaves on down into the South!

Once we are in Florida, we will probably leave our motor home, the Nugget, for a bit and sail around the Caribbean! Then we will make the slow journey back to the Pacific Northwest just in time for fishing season.

Here is our super-delux mode of transportation...we are praying to the motor-home gods that this doesn't brake down somewhere in the middle of Wyoming! We obviously haven't changed a thing on the outside of our 1978 Toyota Sunraider, but we gutted the inside, fitting it with stainless steel counters and bamboo floors. If you want to see a little of our re-furbishing process, here is an old post!
So if you have any awesome USA adventures that you would like to share, please do! We love a locals take!

  5. I'm from Seattle too but I did a mini east coast road trip a few years ago. There's a mountain in Maine at Acadia National Park just outside of bar harbor. If you are at the top of the mountain at sunrise, you will be the first person in the United States to see the sun rise. Bar Harbor is also an awesome spot to watch all of the sail boats come in at sunset, I'm talking huge pirate sized sailboats with billowing white sails that are so tall sometimes they look like clouds. And if you're into Hocus Pocus and all that business check out the house in Marblehead (awesome community) outside of Salem. You can even visit the old village that they have sectioned off now for only visiting hours (where Zachary Binx lived in the beginning of the movie!). Have a great time! Wish I had a little RV I could pack up and travel the country in.

    xx
