I've been to a lot of famous churches in my day, from Notre Dame to the Vatican, but it's always amazing to stumble or bike upon a beautiful church in your own back yard. Yesterday, after a cool 26 mile bike ride, we arrived at the cataldo mission, the oldest standing building in Idaho. The mission was built in 1846 by catholic priests. I am blown away by how well-preserved this building is, and how well built it was for literally being in the middle of no where in 1846. You can still see the straw and mud lining the sides of the building, and interestingly enough, they couldn't find stain for the wood so the interior is actually stained with huckleberries!
