Pumpkin Picking

This past weekend we drove 40 minutes out to Snohomish in search of pumpkins. We found our pumpkins, and topped off the freezing cold excursion with hot apple cider, carmel apples, and a little kettle corn. We were going to attempt the corn maze, but the 60 people in front of us had the same idea, so we took our perfectly picked pumpkins on home.

  3. Cute! It amazes me how big this pumpkin-picking malarky is over here in the USA. I'd never been pumpkin picking until I moved to the USA this year.

    1. Really!? I wondered if it was a US only thing or not...It definitely is big in Washington, but we have so many farms close by so it makes it easier to head out to find pumpkins!

I've never been pumpkin picking, at least as an adult, and now I'm thinking this is something I should do.
Also, I discovered the kettle corn at the St Jacobs farmers' market here (near Waterloo), and I'm currently obsessed! Nom!

    1. Thanks Colleen! And Kettle corn is definitely the best invention as of late! I could eat a whole bag in one sitting!

And you need to get out and pumpkin pick...though don't go on the weekends, we were bombarded by crying kids trying to steal our pumpkins :)

  8. Gorgeous pumpkin patch and photos! Have the extremely warty and white pumpkins become popular in your area? Because that's all I can find in Arkansas it seems like. I also read that pumpkins are becoming the new superfood. Does that mean that all of the pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice lattes I consume are making me healthy? I sure hope so :)

    1. I totally hope that means we can gorge on anything and everything pumpkin! I'm with you, on the pumpkin pie and pumpkin lattes! Oh and we have the weird warty yellow ones, but not a lot of white ones yet around here!
