Wanderlust Wednesday: Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Every year from April 1-30th, the tulips bloom.
Located 60 miles north of Seattle and 70 miles south of Vancouver, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is one of the most gorgeous places/events that I have ever seen.
In Skagit Valley, the main town is Mt. Vernon, which makes a good destination itself. So before we headed out to the Tulips, we went to a large street fair (I believe it is the second to last weekend in April). The tulip festival street fair spans the whole town and after walking a bit in the crowds, we were parched and hungry, so we grabbed some tacos and margaritas at a surprisingly hip little bar and then headed out into the tulip madness.
One of the downsides of such a beautiful festival is traffic! There is an insane amount, so I recommend grabbing bikes and biking from farm to farm (or else you have to pay a lot of parking fees).
We were tipped off by a local to find Snowgoose Produce, and grab icecream. We thought we were let in on a secret, but when we showed up there was about a 30 minute wait for the sugary stuff. But, it's worth it. You get a ball of ice-cream about the size of your head and there are hundreds of delicious flavors. I panicked and chose the old standby, cookie dough.

The colors are insane and i've never seen whole fields colored red, or yellow, or pink. It is breathtaking.

Iphoneography #7

A week in review via Instagram...

Monday we headed to West Seattle to watch our favorite musicians; Joe Pennell and Dawn Angelosante! (I designed the poster for their show)
Tuesday, the fiance and I had a date night. He took me to Bastille in Ballard. Their design is as good as their food...once you enter Bastille it feels as if you are instantly transported into a cafe in Paris.
We ate croque monsieur and fresh oysters...
Friday we had made plans to go camping at Deception Pass in our nugget...
The nugget had other plans...it died on us in the middle of driving down the road and has been stuck on the side of the road ever since.

So Saturday we grabbed our partners in crime, David and Heidi Winters and headed for a day trip up to Mt. Vernon to the tulip festival! (and we did a pit stop at Lululemon's outlet!)
We were told to head straight to Snowgoose Produce and get their delicious ice cream. Well after waiting in an hour line, we finally got our ice-cream. One scoop was about the size of my head.

After our ice-cream coma, we finally walked over to the tulip fields.

 The colors were absolutely stunning!

Sunday, per usual, we walked down to the Sunday Market in Ballard.
After the market, we headed to gasworks park with some friends to drink wine and enjoy the sun. I actually got a sunburn (i'm thrilled)!
Hope your weekend was delightful as well!
