road trip day 8: new buffalo to holland, michigan

Today it was almost 80! We even had on shorts and t-shirts to prove it!
We drove up Michigan's "Gold Coast" or the west side, trailing Lake Michigan. We stopped in each little town that we thought might be worth a look. Brian even ventured an October swim, but i'm pretty sure he just needed a bath.

Our first pitstop was Saugatuck. Apparently in the summers, this is the happening place to be. It is said to be the most gay-friendly town in Michigan. We didn't notice much about the town other than the fact that we were the youngest by around 50 years. Nonetheless it was a pretty detour.

The sun felt amazing, and after a short drive we thought that Holland sounded like a good place to spend the night. It turns out that Holland was a fantastic place to stop for the night.

First stop was the New Holland Brewing Company, where we sat outside sampling seasonal ales.

After wandering around town, we found the nearest state park to camp at. Fun fact about Michigan, you are never more than 30 minutes from a state park.
